Oh, reading pile. You taunt me so.

All your flagged pages, turned corners, and highlighted tables of contents.

I have peeked at some of your jewels only to hide them away again, buried under a sea of knowledge and practice-changing evidence.

I know I should read you. I have even blocked off calendar time to do so; somehow, other priorities distract me.

I grab you and carry you around thinking I’ll whittle you away in between meetings or during evening relaxation. I’m only kidding myself and hurting my back lugging you all over.

Somehow, I know the time will come when I am able to sit down with you and enjoy your expertise. Until then…
