People often ask, “How do you get your inspiration? How can you find stuff to write about every day?” Well, I read a lot (both related and unrelated to nursing), and I keep my eyes and mind open to the inspiration around me. Here’s a smidgen of what I’ve been reading and watching recently:
- Impactednurse’s Thunderbox Papers. Bite-sized chunks of nursing information – uhm, brilliant. Ian, or impactednurse himself, is cranking out beautiful posts from squatting at work to coding the dying basic nursing skill of oral care.
- The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss. I’ve mentioned it before – Brain Pickings is one of my favorite sites. It’s marvelously curated. So much so, it inspired me to check out a local Seuss exhibit.
- Great Leadership’s How to Discuss an Employee Performance Problem. I’m sure it’s no surprise – this skill is seriously lacking in managers. I have a Master’s in Business Administration, and I’ve been a manager for five years now; I cannot recall anyone giving me more practical and succinct advice than this single post. Dan also has a lovely post, 10 Ways to be a Great Follower, that’s worth a read, as well. It reminded me of a video about leadership and following.
- Lastly, Your Ride is Here, a local nonprofit released a documentary about their very cool mission and service. Hellllooooo, Ferrari Enzo.
