I’ve been running for about six weeks now. (I’m up to 19 to 20 miles per week!) I’m training for my very first half-marathon alongside my most awesome husband who is training for his very first whole marathon. Every night my husband stretches. Every. Night.
It’s an amazing little performance, and I’m quite impressed with his flexibility. No doubt it has made him a better runner. He’s a gazelle. No joke. He runs literally twice as fast as me. (He encourages me all the time that he’s been running a year longer than me, as well.)
I’m not a stretcher. Currently. I know I need to stretch to make me better. I just have to discipline myself to do it. Much like every.other.little.thing.in.life!
I’ve found symbolic stretching needed in my professional career, as well. It’s amazing that every time I think I’m running fabulously, someone comes along and says, “Hey, did you stretch today?” I hate stretching – even figuratively. However, I am privileged to have such people in my life – even digitally – spur me on. Thank you!
So, have you stretched today?
