It’s the season for nursing awards, special giveaways, and contests. Whether you have the best nurse in the world or a colleague that just – won’t – quit, there are several ways you can honor him or her. And, there are some mighty neat contests lately, too, that may interest you.

• The Extraordinary Healer Award presented by CURE Magazine  – entries are due March 20, 2013
• 2013 Nursing Excellence Awards presented by Nurse.com – entries are due May 1, 2013. Categories include Advancing & Leading the Profession; Clinical Nursing, Inpatient; Education & Mentorship; Home, Community, & Ambulatory Care; Patient & Staff Management; and Volunteerism & Service
• Win a JVC Everio GZEX210 Wi-Fi HD video camera and vlog at the ONS 38th Annual Congress – entries are due by April 12, 2013
• Central Texas only – Texas Nurses Association District 5 Fab 5 Awards – entries due March 17, 2013
• Minneapolis-area only – Outstanding Nurses Award presented by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, entries due April 1, 2013
• Check with your state’s nursing association. They likely give away statewide or regional awards, and the application deadline is probably sometime in March or early April.
