Sounding boards are important in all aspects of life. They’re the “safe” people who will let you vent and take in all your words, never to let them escape again.
Yesterday I was thankful for someone who was willing to listen to me, and then I had an ah-ha moment when I realized I may be the subject of other people’s sounding-board conversations that very day. As a manager, it’s a 100% reality.
Truth be told, it upset me for a moment. Then I got over it. It’s natural. It’s healthy to share and vent – in the appropriate places and with the appropriate people.
Everyone needs a sounding board. Everyone.
