Happy Pi Day! (Yes, there is such a thing.) Today celebrates math and the wonder of the mathematical phenomenon of pi, which is a circle’s circumference (measurement around) divided by its diameter (measurement across). (Remember? Barely? Don’t worry; you’re not alone.)
Today is actually less about the specific number and more about math fun. Albeit not terribly too difficult (most of the time), nursing is full of math; this either scares people away or self-selects them out of the profession, which is a good thing because nurses accurately calculating medication doses is kind of a big deal.
If you want to celebrate the day alone, enjoy the infographic below, read The Joy of Pi or Not A Wake, which was written entirely in Pilish – a constrained writing style coinciding with the pi numerical sequence, or chuckle with some pi jokes. If you want to party Pi Day away with others, consider a random act of kindness for a coworker at 1:59 PM today (3/14 1:59 are the first six digits of pi), send an irrational pi e-card, or treat your unit/office to a pizza “pi.” Here’s to the fun of math, excellent teachers, and smarty-pants nurses!
