Orchids symbolize amazement and wonder. It is a perfect flower to give to a nurse, which is exactly what I did earlier this week. My hospital had a Magnet site visit this week. I’ve been on vacation this week. I have a nurse on my team that I knew would rock our part of the site visit, sharing all the great things we’ve worked on as a nursing team to impact care as well as our profession within our hospital.

I wanted her to know my thanks, so one fabulous orchid and a hand-written note later explaining how amazing and wonderful she is, and not only do have a super-charged nurse, but I’m feeling high on the encouragement myself. I think I found a new gift-giving tradition for the nurses in my life!
