I recently had to re-read my future job description at my new-hire health screening. Rather than pretend to read it, I nestled into the large, rather comfortable medical chair, took a deep breath, and decided to enjoy my few moments of reading in peace. Hey, you have to enjoy the little things, even in the occupational health office.
The job description was just as I remembered it. As I scanned over the list of lifting, walking, etc. requirements, I had to laugh for a moment, and it spurred a lovely conversation with one of the occupational health nurses – a future colleague in the healthcare system – as we finished the screening.
Come to find out, my new role does not have any required reclining. How sad. Because, you know, that’s exactly why I became a nurse – for all the reclining.
