Friday is my last day in my current role. It feels rather strange. I have worked hard to leave my current job well. For me, that has meant fulfilling a rather lengthy notice, completing all previously agreed upon obligations, ensuring numerous people have details upon details about all current projects, and working to prep upcoming projects as much as possible.
While I increased my stress levels over the last month or so, I wanted to make sure I do what I said I would do. And, I am not a fan of burning bridges by any means. I know I will work with many of the same people over the course of my professional career. Above all, I care very much for the organization and team I am “leaving.” I have put years of effort into building ideas and relationships. The last thing I want to see is those things end with my job transition.
Despite me wanting to believe I am irreplaceable, I learned early on in my life that is not the case for any of us. Someone is raring to step into the role, and he/she will work to carve their own path and make the organization as best it can be. I want to be certain I have done everything I can to make that as seamless a transition as possible.
I choose to leave well.

July 8, 2011 6:25 pmSo many people forget to maintain the relationships and professional rapport that you’ve worked hard to grow and keep in your current role. Leaving a position better than you found it and helping your successor to do the same
ideal and honorable.
I wish you luck in your new role but know if you treat it with the same respect and care you do with your blog then you’ll be wildly successful!
