Red, white, blue. Patterns.
Waving in the wind.
Big, bright sky.
Freedom surrounds me. Comfortably.
Family within arm’s reach.
Food waiting for me, to feed my body and soul.
Elsewhere, someone toils for freedom.
Family far away.
Food is only sustenance for the body to continue onward.
Elsewhere, a veteran stands on the corner.
War changed his body as well as his mind.
We have never fully repaid him.
Lights and sounds fill the night sky.
Heat made cooler with sweet beverages.
Laughter, sighs, contentment, gratitude.
Thank you to all the men and women who have served or are currently serving both at home and abroad. Thank you for defending all freedoms for the world.
