Modern Healthcare recently named the Top 25 Women in Healthcare for 2013, which honors female healthcare executives for their ongoing work.
I was pleased to see that eight of the 25 women honored are nurses:
- Maureen Bisognano, President and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement
- Karen Daley, President of the American Nurses Association
- Patricia Hemingway Hall, President and CEO of Health Care Service Corporation
- Sharon O’Keefe, President of University of Chicago Medical Center
- Judith Persichilli, President and CEO of Catholic Health East
- Marilyn Tavenner, acting administrator of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
- Mary Wakefield, administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration
- Shirley Weis, Chief Administrative Officer and Vice President of the Mayo Clinic
