I’m pretty much a Dansko fangirl. I love their shoes. I love their scrubs. They are perfect for nurses (and all healthcare professionals). And, in honor of nurses and our great work, Dankso is celebrating Nurses Week, which is May 6-12, in a big way.
First, Dansko is sponsoring an enter-to-win contest for anyone who visits a Dansko retailer during Nurses Week (5/6-5/12) and tries on Dansko apparel or footwear. Five lucky nurses will win a Dansko prize pack! You can find a retailer near you to jump in on the fun.
Second, Dansko has three new shoe styles – Professional Art Palette, Professional Flower Power, and Sedona Elise. I have the Professional Art Palette shoes, which are ah-mazing thanks to the ever-comfortable and trusty Professional style. The Art Palette design instantly brings a color-bomb to any scrub style, and the shoes have even changed the entire look of a casual outfit. Hooray for work shoes weeerking the off-shift!
To thank nurses, Dansko is giving a pair of the Professional Art Palette shoes to one fortunate Nursetopia reader. To gain entry to the giveaway, simply leave a comment now about how you celebrate Nurses Week. I’ll randomly select a winner on May 12, 2013, at 7 PM CST. Seriously, what a great Nurses Week gift; enter now!
Thanks, Dansko, for loving on nurses and helping us look great while doing it. You rock!
Disclosure: I received the Professional Art Palette shoes to review for this article. All comments and opinions are my own.

May 3, 2013 5:26 pmI organize a week full of celebrations for the staff on my unit! It’s full of treats, lunches, and spirit days such as Weird Wacky Wednesday and Free Throw Friday when you wear your favorite sports team gear and we all share a lunch of game day foods like hot dogs and nachos!! I wish I had more money to show my staff of 100 just how much I really appreciate them!

May 3, 2013 11:44 pmI’ll be celebrating this Nurses week as my last as an LPN and RN student! During this week I will treat some special nurses with little surprises, kind words, and encouragement … Something to brighten up their day. On nurses day I like to reflect on what nursing is for me and why I’ve chosen this path.
Danskos are so nice to be taking care of tired achey nurses feet! I can’t go a shift without my Danskos (and have actually gotten a pair to wear outside of work b/c I love them so much).

May 5, 2013 11:31 pmI celebrate nurse’s week this year as my 18th year as a RN but my first in a management roll. We just won Team of the Quarter last Thursday and one of my nurses was the employee of the month for the organization. My staff will be receiving free chair massages in our clinic, lunch and random acts of appreciation all week. I am proud to be a nurse but even prouder of my co workers.

May 6, 2013 9:01 amI celebrate nurses week by making sure to recognize all of my nursing colleagues–my staff nurses, charges, managers, educators…everyone! I try to give every one of them an encouraging compliment, a smile, & of course I sing their praises to my patients. Have you ever started your shift with the off-going nurse telling your patient how amazing you are at their bedside? It feels great. I love to end my shifts in such a positive way. Keep up all the meaningful & important work my friends!

May 6, 2013 11:53 pmI celebrate nurses week by doing what i was born to do. Provide care to those who can not care for themselves, touching lives, consoling family members, and doing whatever i can to make someone smile when they feel like giving up. Giving an encouraging word or even just a smile to make someone want to fight a little while longer. I have one of the most rewarding careers there is and i wouldnt do it differently if i had the chance. I love my job as a nurse 🙂 happy nurses week

May 7, 2013 4:42 pmAs a Clinical Nurse Manager, I celebrate my nurses every week. We have appreciation days and I feed them (their favorite present). I also have some scavenger hunts for prizes during nurses week (nurse travel mugs, badge holders, gift cards for uniform stores). One day during the week we dress in all white to “go back to our nursing roots”. On Friday afternoon all nurses will be receiving a free 15 minute chair massage and a gift bag from bath and body works. I love nursing and appreciate each and every nurse!

May 7, 2013 9:07 pmI celebrated nurses week by making note cards for my colleagues with the nurses pledge imprinted on ot. A reminder of why we do what we do. I am foetunate enough to work with an amzing team of intelligent, caring nurses who are not afraid to step up on behalf of a patient and do what’s right. I also found an amazing deal on some beautiful scarves, which I left on their desks. We all meed a bit of bling, right? Happy nurses week!

May 7, 2013 9:15 pmI had to laugh the first day of Nurses Week was one for the books my day started by getting splashed by a liquid and not a good one, my shift proceeded to get crazier from there new admissions, more patients, higher acuity. So crazy that I finished my first med pass and went right into the next. I did not sit, eat or even go to the bathroom. Once I got home and actually got a chance to sit it occurred to me that on the first day of Nurses week, god wanted me to fully appreciate every aspect of the job. I am a nurse it is what we do and just when you may start to forget, one shift like that will make you realize there is nothing you can’t do!

May 8, 2013 6:58 amI’ll be working my usual night shifts all 7 days of the week giving comfort to my pediatric parents with the peace of mind knowing that their children are safe in their rooms being cared for by a nurse that cares, wants to give them the best care possible and keep them in their homes with their families and out of the hospital. That peace of mind I believe means more to a family than the majority of the population understands. A child will a chronic illness can put strain on an entire family, just not the parents. It is my gift to these families to prove there are quality nurses that can care for their child in their home and they don’t have to live in a hospital. I strive to keep this goal during nurses week and every week!

May 8, 2013 8:44 amI celebrate nurses week by working hard and remembering what made me become a nurse in the first place. I started as an LPN and then got my RN and am now working on my BSN. All nurses are special and deserve to be appreciated. We all do so much for our patients and communities and touch lives in ways we never have known. Happy nurses week to all of the nurses out there and just remember that you all are appreciated!

May 10, 2013 7:15 amI originally got into nursing because I was fascinated by human anatomy and greatly enjoyed helping people. Nursing seemed to really marry the two quite well. Roughly two years later, I can’t imagine being in another field. I love my job and love the people I work with. Hats off to all of the nurses out there. You are making a difference!

May 11, 2013 9:27 amThis is my first Nurse’s Week as an actual, licensed nurse. I passed my NCLEX last year the week following Nurse’s Week. I am celebrating by making sure to tell all of my coworkers how much I appreciate them, and how very much I appreciate the help they’ve given me the past several months as I acclimatize to the role of “Nurse.” We support each other, day in and day out, and we all know how impossible this job would be if we didn’t back each other up. I’m thankful for all the nurses out there, as well as the ancillary staff that makes doing our jobs a little easier. Happy Nurse’s Week!
Oh, and Dansko shoes are awesome! I just had to retire my first pair of nursing shoes, as they were so worn they had started to talk to me. 🙂 I went with regular walking shoes for now, as my local store didn’t have any “nursing” shoes that fit right. Having a pair of Dansko’s – especially as awesome looking as the ones featured here – would be such a relief on my other “support staff” – the feet that help me get my job done every day! 😀 Here’s hoping!

May 11, 2013 1:18 pmAs a certified nurse midwife I have been catching babies in my Dansko’s clogs for 18 years and they need to be replaced and I would love to wear these amazing shoes! They are the only shoes that give my flat feet support and my back doesn’t hurt at the end of a long hard birth…..
