As part of the #HAWMC, I’m sharing what I would include in a health time capsule planned for opening in 2112, 100 years from now. It’s a tough decision, but here’s what I’d stuff my time capsule with:
- A QR code directing others to #RNChat transcripts once scanned.
- An iPad loaded with apps like AvidNurse, American Journal of Nursing, and many others.
- A flash drive loaded with the Affordable Care Act and a press release of the pioneer Accountable Care Organizations, or ACOs.
- An article about nursing during the economic downturn and what we’re forecasting for the next few years.
- A picture of hands. No matter how technologically advanced we are or get, our hands remain the tools of our care – able to palpate and massage and assess as well as able to comfort and calm and reassure.
I can only imagine what people opening the time capsule would say or think. “So that’s what a QR really looked like at first.” “I can’t believe how big the iPad was. How did they ever make it with such little storage space?” “My, my, my. The Affordable Care Act!” “Some things never change.” Who knows!
What would you include in a health time capsule?
