So I’m watching the NBA All Star festivities – namely the Slam Dunk Contest, and what do I think of? Yes, nursing. It’s a passion…I can’t help it.
And all these things are running through my head – who would the all stars of nursing be if we could bring everyone together under one giant, highly-sponsored roof? Who would be the coaches? Would they have cool nicknames (Bev “The Bevel” Smith or David “The Resuscitator” Johnson, anyone?)? Yes, a millionaire dunking a basketball into a 10-foot goal is impressive; I tend to think people saving other people’s lives at a fraction of the pay is worthy of “all star” status.
