“I love those shoes!”
“Hey, did you get new shoes? Super cute!”
“Ohhh, I love Dansko shoes!”
You better get accustomed to these kind of questions and unsolicited comments because it’s going to happen. It just is. That’s exactly what happened when I wore the new Dansko Professional Scattered Floral in clinic last week. Black patent leather with bright-stroked, iridescent flowers. Fun!
Want to have the same kind of Dansko fun? In honor of Nurses Week, they’re giving away the same Professional to one lucky Nursetopia reader. All you have to do is leave a comment below detailing how you’re planning to celebrate Nurses Week (ahem, which is May 6-12), and you might be strolling in colors, comfort, and compliments soon! The commenting winner will be randomly selected Thursday evening (8 PM Central), May 8th, and announced on Nursetopia Friday, May 9th. Thanks, Dansko!
So, tell me; how are you celebrating the most awesome of weeks – Nurses Week?

Disclosure: I received a pair of Dansko shoes for review. Comments here are my own. Can you tell I love Dansko?

April 29, 2014 9:02 amI love mine that I won last year, that was so awesome! I get compliments on them every time I wear them. I never would have bought something so wild and colorful myself but I’m so happy I won them, I love them!! Dansko, and you and your blog, are so awesome!!

April 29, 2014 12:27 pmI love Danskos for work! I wear them every day and it would be awesome to have a different color than my plain dark brown ones 🙂 For nurses week I’m starting a new job at an amazing hospital so I’m super excited!

April 29, 2014 2:57 pmI’m celebrating my first Nurse’s Week as an official employed RN! My coworkers and I planned out theme days for potlucks each day of the week. I would love a brand new pair of Danskos. The pair I have now are so comfortable & I can definitely notice a difference at the end of the day when I wear Danskos vs. regular tennis shoes.

May 1, 2014 7:53 pmI will be celebrating nurses week at my work. They try to make the week fun with little ways to say they appreciate everything we do. It is a great moral booster.

May 1, 2014 10:41 pmWe are celebrating it much like they do with Administrative Assistant’s Day! Flowers, lunch, that kind of thing. These are such beautiful shoes!

May 5, 2014 7:45 amFor Nurse’s Week, I am heading up a project to celebrate why staff at my hospital decided to become nurses! We are replicating The American Nurse Project, documentary and all! So excited! 🙂

May 5, 2014 11:40 amI’m celebrating nurses week by, what else? WORKING! I did order a bunch of funny nurse-themed magnets though to place on my co-workers lockers and made coffee/chocolate treat bags for everyone working noc shift with me. Unfortunately, our hospital chose to celebrate hospital week this week instead of nurse’s week.

May 5, 2014 10:05 pmHow unfortunate that your hospital is not celebrating Nurses Week…especially since Hospital Week is *next* week. 🙁

May 5, 2014 1:52 pmThis is my very first Nurse’s Week as an employed nurse. Admin is planning to provide breakfasts and a banquet. I also plan to go to Cinnabon and get a free cinnabon during their Nurses Week promotion.

May 5, 2014 6:41 pmFor Nurse’s week I am actually celebrating teacher appreciation week. You see I am a school nurse and we rarely ever get recognized. So we just get left overs of what the teachers didn’t take. No one appreciates us or knows we are there until we are dealing with a medical issue or EMS is rushing into the school. Not even a Happy Nurse’s Day last year.
Nursetopia
May 5, 2014 10:04 pmOddly enough (or not!) Melissa, I always recognize my kiddos’ school nurse at the sane time since the appreciation weeks always coincide. You make an excellent point, though, because I got a letter about recognizing the teachers this week. Do you think there was any mention of recognizing the nurse? Nope!!

May 5, 2014 7:01 pmI’m missing out on nurse’s week this year. One more week of leave after having surgery. Being off for two months has really opened my eyes to how much I really love my job and my colleagues. I have worn Dansko shoes since my first day at my current job which was over eighteen years ago!

May 5, 2014 7:47 pmI love Dansko’s. I have 3 different pair but would love to have another. I will be spending this week at work enjoying every moment of the rewards of being a nurse.

May 6, 2014 3:52 pmI’m graduating with my (entry-level) master’s in Nursing in EXACTLY 10 day! WOOHOO!
I’m celebrating nurses week with LOVE by wearing my nursing schwag pins all week. I’m also attending an undergraduate panel discussion about nursing roles and discussing future options. I get to finish with a great luncheon thanking all my preceptors for helping us become future nurses.
I will be working in a level IV NICU and am ecstatic! I know I’ll be running my booty off and loving (well..mostly!) every moment! I don’t have a pair of Dansko’s yet but they would be a lifesaver!

May 6, 2014 10:59 pmI love Dansko shoes! Amazing how comfortable they are…must have been made for those working in health care. I plan to spend my Nurses day working as a school nurse in a middle high school. In the evening my partner in crime (elementary nurse) and I will be attending a nurses night out conference. I’d love to be strutting my stuff in those pretty floral shoes 🙂

May 7, 2014 9:25 amThe nurse managers have planned a week of wonderful treats for the fantastic nurses we work with. I have been a nurse for 26 yrs & have never wanted to do anything else. This would be my 1st pair of Dansko shoes but other nurses I work with absolutely love them. These are adorable!! Happy nurses week to all.
