I picked up The Encore Effect from my library a few weeks ago. With less than three hours of audio, I knew this book wouldn’t last long. That was one of the reasons I checked it out; I needed a break from the long books I’ve listened to lately. It appeared to be a good read/listen.

Written and narrated by Mark Sanborn, the book is full of business (and general life) gems. I’ve read a lot of business books throughout graduate school and beyond. My masters in nursing coursework was administrative-focused, and I chose to work through an additional course-load to obtain my masters in business administration. Like I said – I’ve read a lot of business books.

The Encore Effect definitely had some nuggets I have not heard before – at least not in the same manner. Sanborn uses great stories and analogies to convey his message about exemplary performances, whether those are at the bedside, in the boardroom, or in front of an audience. If you want people to keep asking “Encore! Encore!” of you, then you should absolutely read or listen to this book. It’s brief but powerful.
